The almost overnight success story from the Research Triangle of North Carolina, Weston Estate revives the idea of poppy boybands of the 2000s, turning the concept on its head and producing smooth and catchy songs that struggle to find genre in the best of ways. Spear-headed by lead singer and solo artist Marco Luka, the band prides themself on being able to incorporate the sometimes clashing tastes and creative directions of individual members. Weston spends long stretches of time polishing and revising their work, ensuring that the personalities of individual members shine through properly and don’t get swallowed by the identity of the band or lead singer. The result is an astonishingly well-done sound revolving around three vocalists that I’ve yet to see any other band replicate well.
